Empowering workwear for women
Founded by Adrienne Kronovet straight out of college, Ameliora is a US-based women’s clothing brand built around timeless button-up shirts made from premium performance fabrics.
Adrienne always knew she wanted to go into fashion and got the idea for the brand in her senior year of college, where she spent a year working on a business plan and launched right after graduation.
Eight years on, Ameliora has grown from a limited collection into a full wardrobe, now stocked in over 100 stores across the US, with sights on expanding internationally.
With five core shirt silhouettes offered in up to 15 colors each, the brand has built a loyal customer base that keeps asking for more. Adrienne is most proud of the impact Ameliora has on its customers:
“I hear from women re-entering the workforce after years of absence that our clothes give them the confidence to do so. Hearing that you’re able to make an impact in somebody’s life is one of my greatest accomplishments.”
- Adrienne Kronovet, Founder, Ameliora
No mannequin shots, no press coverage
Before discovering Photoroom, creating professional product imagery was both costly and complicated. Ghost mannequin photography alone cost $40–$60 per image and required specialized equipment available at only a handful of studios in the US. With front and back shots billed separately, a single product could cost up to $120 to photograph, not including retouching and color change fees or close-up shots.
“For a small business like myself, this kind of photography was extremely cost-prohibitive, so we really wouldn’t do it that often.”
- Adrienne Kronovet, Founder, Ameliora
Beyond cost, studio shoots brought their own challenges. Coordinating photographers, studios, models, hair and makeup, outfits, and usage rights was overwhelming, all while trying to maximize a shoot that could cost several thousand dollars.
“Normally, we’d work with two models at a time,” Adrienne says, “so if one model is shooting, the other’s changing, just to get in as many pictures and looks as we can.”
And the work didn’t stop once the shoot wrapped: reviewing thousands of raw images, making selects, and providing granular back-and-forth feedback to the photographer, such as, “Can you crop this?” added even more time and complexity.
Ghost mannequin and product photography are essential for an emerging fashion brand like Ameliora. Beyond elevating product pages and line sheets, it’s critical in the US market, where press outlets often require ghost mannequin imagery upfront. Without it, press coverage is difficult, if not impossible, to secure.
Photoroom’s toolkit is a game-changer for small businesses
One of the biggest and most welcome changes Adrienne has seen in the industry over the past eight years is how quickly technology has evolved. She first discovered Photoroom through an Instagram ad for ghost mannequin photography, and after uploading a single image, she was immediately hooked.
Since adopting Photoroom, Adrienne explains how it has become part of her daily routine, completely transforming her workflow as she uses it for everything from new samples to existing products. Her best-used features in the toolkit include:
Flat lay
With the flat lay feature, Adrienne can upload new factory samples online before the finished garments even arrive, and quickly create wholesale line sheets for customer outreach using nothing more than photos taken on her phone.

Ghost mannequin
One of Adrienne’s favorite Photoroom capabilities is the ghost mannequin feature, which uses AI to turn flat lays, hanging garments, or mannequin shots into clean, model-free product images that clearly show a garment’s true shape and fit for online use and line sheets.
“Something that used to take me three months, I can now do in two minutes. Every time I use it, I’m amazed by what Photoroom is able to create.”
- Adrienne Kronovet, Founder, Ameliora

Virtual model
Adrienne also uses Photoroom’s Virtual Model tool to visualize how designs will look on a body during the production process, helping her streamline design decisions before a single garment reaches the studio.

Photoroom produces AI-powered color variants in minutes
More recently, Adrienne has been working closely with the Photoroom team on our Conversion Lab, a co-building partnership with e-commerce sellers to develop and improve our product photography solutions, which she describes as “an incredible experience.”
“As a retailer on Shopify, I have a strong understanding of the type of photography Shopify needs. And as a brand owner, I’m able to give guidance on the tools that would genuinely make my life easier, and then work with the team to build them.”
- Adrienne Kronovet, Founder, Ameliora
One of the tools we developed together is the new recolor feature, an instrumental tool for Adrienne that lets her transform a single product image into multiple color SKUs using conversational AI. Like many brands, she primarily works with one silhouette offered in multiple colors (for instance, 8 for her top-selling Dawn shirt and 14 for the Boyfriend shirt).
Previously, reshoots for new colors were prohibitively expensive, and manual Photoshop edits were time-consuming and prone to errors, such as accidentally changing buttons or flattening textures, which made fabrics look artificial.
Now, Photoroom’s Recolor tool preserves fabric details, folds, stitching, and natural shading, keeping clothing images realistic and consistent across her catalog.

“Instead of uploading an entirely new image, I can simply say, ‘change it to black,’ ‘change it to white,’ or ‘change it to grey.’ It’s been an incredible feature and extremely useful, and it’s been really fun to see it come together.”
- Adrienne Kronovet, Founder, Ameliora
By capturing the full color spectrum of each garment from the accurate hex color codes onto the ghost mannequin photos, Adrienne has “an increase in customers buying more colors rather than just the basic neutrals.”
The results go beyond speed: the accurate color representation encourages more varied purchases, with customers now confidently choosing bolder shades beyond neutrals, boosting overall sales variety by 30%.
Seamless integration from Photoroom to Shopify
At Ameliora, Adrienne sells primarily on Shopify, and using Photoroom has made posting her product photos straightforward.
Photoroom’s upcoming Shopify integration will allow her to export all her work directly to her store in just a few clicks. “That’s going to save a huge amount of time,” she says, “and a lot of storage space on my computer.”
How to do more, with less
Behind it all is a lean team, with Adrienne herself leading marketing, customer service, and product development. Working with a small team and a limited budget means every hour counts, so finding tools that make it possible to do more with less is essential.
That’s where Photoroom comes in, freeing up time that would otherwise be spent on complex, expensive production and allowing Adrienne to stay focused on growing the brand and serving customers.
“Photoroom is transformative for the fashion industry; it makes everything so much easier, so much faster, so much cheaper. I think it really will allow small businesses to grow and thrive.”
- Adrienne Kronovet, Founder, Ameliora
Looking ahead, she’s energized by the next chapter for Ameliora, from new fabrics and fresh silhouettes to accessories that reflect the brand’s evolving style. Adrienne urges anyone considering Photoroom to just “download it and play around, because what it’s capable of is incredible and will be transformational for your business.”
“For anyone considering Photoroom today, just give it a shot, because it will blow your mind and exceed your expectations in every way. There’s so much you can do that you’d have never thought was possible.”
- Adrienne Kronovet, Founder, Ameliora
